So, how do I join in on this fun?

Hi again everyone!

Now that you’ve “met” us and learned a bit about what we’re trying to do, you’re probably asking yourself, “so now what?”  Well, have no fear.  You’ll find everything you need to know about participating in the virtual shower right here in this post.  We want to make this as easy and accessible as possible so that everyone can participate.  This blog, Virtually Showered, is the “command center” of the virtual shower. We are keeping this a surprise and will reveal it to Colleen in person when we visit her on July 17^th.  We’re hoping that many of you will join us and share your greetings, photos, and videos so that the blog is full of lots of fun things for Colleen and Scott to enjoy.  The hope is that while everyone may not be able to come together to celebrate in person, there is still a place where we can all be together for them.

You can join our celebration in one of three ways:

1)       You can become an author on the blog- this way, you will have access to start posts and add photos, videos, and other virtual goodies.  To do this, you will need to have a Gmail account.  Send us an email at virtuallyshowered@gmail.com and let us know that you want to be an author.  We’ll grant you author privileges and send you instructions on how to post.

2)      You can comment on any post on the blog.  Actually, we encourage you to!  We plan to post things like games, questions, and requests for greetings on the blog and hope that you’ll all participate and make it fun.

3)      If there is something you’d like to share like a photo or greeting but just can’t figure the whole blog thing out, just send an email to virtuallyshowered@gmail.com and let us know that what you’re sending is something you’d like shared on the blog.  We’ll make sure it gets there for Colleen and Scott to see.

That wasn’t so bad, now, was it? 

Another question that might come up is about gifting, because generally speaking, baby showers include gifts for the proud parents to be and their new little one.  By no means does this mean that you’re obligated to give a gift if you choose to participate.  If, however, you feel like you would like to send something, we have a few options for you.

1)      I (Kelly) am going to be flying from Boston for the reveal and will carry on what I need for the trip, so I will have one large suitcase that I can check that can accommodate gifts.  These would have to be things on the small side.

2)      Our proud soon-to-be dad Scott has been let in on the secret and is willing to help us hide some gifts at his workplace.  He will bring everything home on 7/17 to be opened when we do our big reveal.

3)      If you would prefer to contribute to a group gift card to either Babies R Us or Pottery Barn Kids, I will facilitate the purchase of such an item before I make the trip to Colorado.

Whatever you decide, please send an email to virtuallyshowered@gmail.com and we will send you the appropriate address for mailing (since this blog is visible to the public, we don’t want to post any addresses here!)  Also, we encourage you to take photos or make a little video while you prepare your gift that can be shared on the blog.
