Hey there!
I'm Courtney, the other admin on this wonderful shower blog! *waves* I don't quite think I can live up to Kel's promise of being more entertaining, but here goes nothing!
Col and I have been friends since we were seventeen years old. She was one of my first friends at SUNY Potsdam. When I met her at Freshman orientation, I had no idea just how close we'd become. Throughout the years, we've grown to be like sisters. Pledging Sigma Alpha Iota with her was just the beginning! We call, text, and facebook multiple times a day. We're usually the first person each other calls to share anything in life...good and bad. I'm privileged to call her my best friend.
Over our friendship, Col and I have shared a lot. I cherish our times in college at Potsdam, when we became roommates in Boston, bridesmaids in each other's weddings, going to concerts together, spring training baseball games in Arizona, visits with each other and our husbands, and even moving to nearly adjacent states a few years apart. Now, we're celebrating the much anticipated birth of her and Scott's first daughter!
When I got a call from my dear friend Kelly in March to talk about how we could do something special for Col, we got brainstorming on how to shower Colleen and little Girlina Christiansen with the love and excitement they deserve. We brought Col's (and my) SAI friends Stephanie and Anne from Colorado into the mix and the ideas started flowing. We thought about how neat it would be to get Kelly out to Colorado when I am out there visiting while making a special detour on our move back east and we'll surprise her with a fantabulous shower! The four of us messaged, skyped, emailed and schemed to make this happen...sometimes driving poor Col to distraction! As planning progressed, it became clear that I would not be able to make it out to Colorado when Anne, Stephanie Kelly and I finally worked out a date for Colleen's physical shower. Kelly and I thought "Hey! We're all connected by email, facebook, the interwebz. Why not use that as a way to bring us who are strewn about the country together for this joyous task?!" Kelly, being the amazing friend that she is, said "Let's still surprise the heck out of her! I'll come out when you're out there!" It's exciting to be able to use technology like this to link all of us who love her together.
Let's face it, being sneaky is just too much fun!
So here we are, hosting a virtual shower for Colleen and Baby Girl Christiansen! Remember this virtual experience is to be a SURPRISE for her so let's keep it under wraps until the big day on July 17th! I am looking VERY forward to surprising my best friend and hope that y'all will join us in making Colleen feel all the love and excitement we do for her and her precious little-one-to-be!!We should be posting some info VERY soon about just how this bloggety blog will work.
